These hand built stoneware tumblers were nearly sacrificed to the Kiln Gods. But instead of tossing them, I was inspired by the visible mending of knitwear, where worn thin parts of the design are fixed with a different colour yarn, but the pattern is still visible. Check out this sample by Flora Collingwood-Norris. With that in mind, I removed all the affected underglaze, and then applied new underglaze in a new colourway. These tumblers are genuinely one of a kind, and though I love how they came out, I won't be purposefully damaging any more of them, so I am unlikely to ever make them quite like this again.
I'm still considering them seconds, because there are some minor flaws still. Don't worry, all flaws are on the outside and don't affect the use.
Tumblers are hand made without much attention paid to consistency (that's boring), so they hold approximately between 340mL-420mL.
